As the special day draws nearer and nearer, we are planning what to do and where to go in the UK over the festive season. It’s a time when if we have kids in the back of the car, you will be better off keeping them entertained, but no better way of doing it is by getting the little ones and the grown-ups in the Christmas spirits.
We at Southampton-based Best Price Car Sales have created a lighthearted list of some of the best Christmas movies of all time and some are designed to bring back very nostalgic memories.
The Santa Clause (1994)
This very special movie starring Tim Allen is about an innocent character, accidentally killing Santa Claus and as a result, is now expected to take his place. At first he’s reluctant to take on such a massive and magical task, but then he begins to change into Santa Claus, which automatically draws children to approach him to present their Christmas wish lists to him. Highly enjoyable movie to watch, and will certainly make you laugh and shed a little tear too.
A Christmas Carol (1999)
One of the all time great Christmas movies, has to be Charles Dickens’s, A Christmas Carol. Even though there’s been several adaptations, there’s only one classic. What makes this movie so special is the leading actors who played their roles with outstanding performances. If you want to see a thoroughly entertaining Christmas past, present and future movie, accept no substitutes.
Home Alone 2 (1992)
This is the first and only successful sequel after the original Home Alone movie. By taking the same formula and adding a bit more hot sauce, this really is a very entertaining and funny movie. The film relocated to New York and introduced the great Donald Trump with a brief cameo. Just for that, this movie cannot be missed.
Elf (2003)
The Elf movie in our opinion, doesn’t do itself any favours when you see Will Ferrell on the front for marketing purposes, but if you actually watch it, he’s really quite good and makes the whole movie experience memorable and some big belly laughs to accompany it too. There are some big stars wrapped up in it, with Mary Steenburgen, and James Caan.
Die Hard (1988)
Probably one of the most original Christmas movies out there, the groundbreaking action packed, all guns blazing thriller, Die Hard. For decades there’s been a debate on whether or not this is regarded really as a Christmas movie, in our humble opinion, it is, hands down. It’s not your average festive movie, covered in tinsel and fairy lights, so be warned when letting the kids watch it, but it’s never boring as a Christmas rerun movie to watch for the umpteen time.
Hopefully we’ve helped evoke some memories of some classic Christmas movies for you and the family to watch during those long car journeys across the country.
